On Sunday 5th May, B-Secur takes to its heels with the Belfast City Marathon.

A team of runners will complete the course, with over 17,000 other participants expected to hit the streets of North, South, East and West of the City.

We'll be raising money for two inspiring charities at home and abroad - and there's still time to pledge your support.

B-Secur Charity - Obulamu Outreach Ministries

Obulamu Outreach Ministries

Obulamu, meaning New Life, exists to improve the standard of life for as many impoverished families as possible in Kawempe, a community on the outskirts of Kampala.

They have three programmes set up so far as a means in which people can help. They have a child sponsorship programme, a gift programme and more recently the Women’s Empowerment Programme.

Raising awareness and funding for our chosen charities has been a brilliant and humbling experience. It’s great to have the opportunity to help such worthwhile causes.

Down's Syndrome Association

The Down’s Syndrome Association is the only charity that supports people with Down’s syndrome from birth to older age.

In NI they have hands on projects for young adults to ensure they have social outlets, such as a choir, dance troupe and clubs that are open to everyone. They run holidays for adults so they can build new friendships and try new activities.

They also offer Makaton training, allowing children with communication difficulties the ability to interact with those around them.

I am extremely proud to work for a company that cares and supports local charities. Not only is it a great opportunity to help those less fortunate, it has also been great for bringing the B-Secur team even closer.

B-Secur's Annie Gilliland

Annie Gilliland,  B-Secur

Data analyst Annie Gilliland is leading our charity partnerships.

"For B-Secur specifically, it is a great opportunity to show the same support we were given as a start-up company.

"I love that B-Secur is so enthusiastic to help charities both locally and internationally, and I’m excited to be involved in the process."

All money raised from the marathon will be divided equally between the two charities, and any support is most welcome.
