Joe Toth, Director, Strategic Partnerships – Semiconductors

Can you tell us about your background?

I graduated with a degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Rhode Island. After several years as a design engineer focusing on signal processing, I transitioned into the electronics and semiconductor industry in 1995. Over the subsequent nearly three decades, I have held various roles in technical support, sales, and management, continuously expanding my network within the industry.

What interests you the most about working in partnership with the semiconductor sector, and what drew you to pursue a career in this field?

Ever since I was young, I’ve been captivated by how electrical devices operate, leading me naturally to electrical engineering. The creativity and innovation in engineering something new have always intrigued me, fueling my career for over 30 years.

As the Director of Strategic Partnerships, what are your primary responsibilities, and how do you see your role contributing to the company’s overall objectives?

My role centers around championing B-Secur’s cutting-edge solutions. I aim to propel our growth by informing our partners about the value of our products and services, ensuring they understand the benefits these offer to them, their customers, and our company.

What do you believe sets your approach to strategic partnerships apart from others in the industry, and what strategies do you employ to cultivate successful partnerships?

What sets me apart is my blend of technical knowledge, engineering background, interpersonal skills, and sales experience. This combination allows me to effectively engage with a diverse range of stakeholders at our partner companies, establishing credibility and fostering robust relationships.

Collaboration is key in strategic partnerships. How do you ensure effective communication and alignment between your organization and its partners throughout the partnership lifecycle?

I think it all comes back to showing value to the partnerI work to be someone that partners want to communicate with and someone that they know brings them value during these interactionsIf I am wasting their valuable time, then any current or as importantly future collaboration is likely not going to happen.

How do you stay ahead of emerging technologies and market developments to identify new partnership opportunities?

I think it comes from my natural inquisitivenessI want to learn from everyone around me, so I ask a lot of questionsAnd I read all I can.

What activities or hobbies bring you joy outside of your professional life?

My greatest joy comes from spending time with my family—though I’d never tell them that; they don’t need the extra leverage! Additionally, I enjoy tinkering with my audio equipment, playing golf, cooking with my family, and keeping active with regular exercise.
