B-Secur Supports Orlando Health and WHOOP Pilot Program Bringing Biometric Insights to Clinical Care

B-Secur is proud to be partnering with Orlando Health, WHOOP, and Sensr on a new pilot program designed to bring continuous biometric insights into clinical care and support better patient outcomes.

The wearable technology pilot, led by Orlando Health through its Orlando Health Ventures arm, aims to improve patient care and experience while reducing readmissions. The initial pilots will begin at Orlando Health South Lake Hospital in Clermont, focusing on patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).

At discharge, patients will receive wristbands with sensors capable of measuring up to 50 metrics – including heart rate, heart rate variability, oxygen saturation, temperature, and on-demand clinical-grade electrocardiograms (ECGs). Data collected from these devices will be monitored by an outpatient care management team, enabling clinicians to track progress remotely and intervene where necessary.

“This program will be an incredible asset to our providers since we’ll be able to see patients’ sleep patterns, movement, stress levels and more as they recover at home,” said Stephanie Dietz, MD, medical director, Orlando Health Value-Based Care and Population Health. “This way, we can ensure we see critical changes in real-time and can arrange next steps for our patients right away, promoting a safe and speedier recovery.”

Through this collaboration, B-Secur contributes its expertise in ECG-based software technology, helping to unlock new insights from continuous biometric data and advance chronic condition management – particularly in cardiovascular health, the leading cause of death worldwide.

“We see the tremendous potential in utilizing wearable technology and advanced sensory data when it comes to patient care,” said Bobby Helmedag, vice president, Orlando Health Ventures. “Together with our technology partners, we’re exploring a new way to observe and monitor those with chronic conditions and therefore gain a deeper insight into our patients and how to best care for them.”

The initiative highlights the growing role of partnerships between healthcare systems and digital health innovators in creating a more connected and personalized approach to patient care. Orlando Health Ventures continues to collaborate with clinicians and leaders to identify and invest in companies demonstrating strong innovation potential, and B-Secur is proud to support this vision through its medical-grade biosensing technology.
