Hardware Design Engineer

B-Secur is seeking a talented Hardware Engineer to join its growing team and help develop our cutting-edge ECG technology.

The suitable person will have a third level education with a demonstrable ability to work unsupervised to support customer projects.

They will also be able to work with a high degree of autonomy and accountability. The industry and market moves quickly, so a focused work ethic is required.

 

The Role:

  • Hardware Design and Development of prototypes of wireless healthcare sensors
  • Progress and assist with ongoing research within B-Secur into future bio-sensing technology including but not limited to ECG, body impedance measurements and dry electrode development
  • Exposure to many aspects of engineering including
    • assisting large IC manufacturers to develop customer solutions
    • developing engineering evaluation hardware
    • working with large healthcare electronics customers to develop high quality and robust ECG solutions
  • Providing technical hardware and sensing technology assistance to internal and external stakeholders
  • Develop innovative hardware solutions to optimise bio-sensing signal quality

Essential Criteria

  • Third level qualification in Electronics Engineering or related discipline
  • A minimum 1 year in an electronics design type role where you will have been designing and developing hardware covering both analogue and digital electronics, the position is open to all levels of engineer who meet the minimum criteria, for example Senior Engineer etc.
  • A fundamental understanding of impedance and AC circuit theory
  • Enthusiasm and a willingness to learn and excel in all aspects of ECG development including but not limited to hardware development, electrode theory and future Biosensing technologies being developed
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • A working knowledge of electronic schematic and layout design tools
  • Will be flexible to learn and develop new technologies related to biosensing

Desirable Criteria

  • Previous experience in design of low noise PCB layout techniques
  • An understanding of materials science/chemistry
  • Previous experience in design for EMC/Safety
  • Experience with circuit simulation and analysis software such as SPICE or other Finite Element Analysis simulation tools to develop
  • Fundamental knowledge of MATLAB
  • Experience with BLE or other low power wireless technologies

The location

The B-Secur team are based in Belfast. Whilst this role will be primarily based in Belfast, the role may require visiting other locations and working from home under current government COVID guidance.
