We are looking for an experienced financial controller to undertake all aspects of financial management, including management accounting, regulatory and financial reporting, budget and forecasts preparation, as well as the development of internal control policies and procedures. Finance controller responsibilities will also include financial risk management.

Duties:

  • Manage the day-to-day financial operations within the company, including payroll, invoicing, accounts payable, banking and other transactions
  • Work closely to support the senior management executives, providing insightful information to senior executives to aid in long-term and short-term decision making
  • Review financial data, and prepare monthly and annual financial statements on a timely basis
  • Coordinate and direct the preparation of the budget and financial forecasts and report variances
  • Co-ordinate and input to grant applications
  • Present financial reports to board members, stakeholders, executives, and clients in board and other formal meetings
  • Review and manage the employee expense process
  • Be the principal point of contact for outsourced services including tax preparation, auditing, and banking
  • Manage reporting and compliance requirements including employment-related securities
  • Develop relationships with the Board of directors, external investors, key clients and suppliers
  • Track the company's financial status and performance to identify areas for potential improvement. Seek out methods for minimising financial risk to the company
  • Stay up to date with technological advances and accounting software to be used for financial purposes
  • Establish and maintain high-level financial policies and procedures for the company. Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls
  • Seek to build and develop financial department employees as the company grows including financial assistants and accountants.

The current finance function is outsourced. As part of the recent growth and significant investment in the company, there is a requirement to bring this function in-house. The successful candidate will lead and implement this project and will have significant scope to shape this. They will work closely with the current providers to ensure a smooth transition.

Skills, qualifications & other requirements:

  • Proven experience as a Financial controller
  • 5+ years of overall combined accounting and finance experience
  • Advanced degree in Accounting, business, economics, finance, or a related field
  • Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures
  • Experience with producing financial statements, with general ledger functions and the month-end/year-end close process
  • Excellent accounting software user and administration skills
  • Good leadership skills and experience
  • Solid communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Deep understanding of business principles and practices
  • Excellent organisational and planning skills
  • Ability to demonstrate excellent research skills, analytical skills, problem-solving skills, and computer skills
  • Integrity and honesty
