In the latest of our article series exploring more about the people behind the B-Secur brand, we’re talking to new starter Olivia Courtney about her impressions of B-Secur so far, the challenges of her role as Commercial Operations Executive and what she’s working on now and next.
Tell us a little about yourself, Olivia.
"My Name is Olivia Courtney. I am 24 and from Drumbo - which is about a 20 minute drive from Belfast City Centre. I’m a typical outdoor-loving country girl, who when given half a chance will bore anyone close by with countless pictures of my horses and dogs!
"I have just recently graduated from Ulster University with First Class Honours in Business Studies and started my journey with B-Secur in September 2018. A bit loud and chatty, I’m never happier than when I’m interacting with people."
Can you describe what your role involves?
"As a relatively small company in high demand, we need to be commercially organised and ahead of the market, this is where my role lies.
"Although I am based within the commercial team, I liaise with all sections of the company. From event planning to market research, client management and scheduling, my work is diverse but so rewarding.
"It is incredibly easy to become passionate about the company and what we do, so finding the motivation to work hard isn’t exactly a challenge."
You’re one of our most recent new recruits! How did you come into contact with B-Secur, and what helped you make the decision to join?
"I was actually interviewing for another role with a local recruitment agency, when they informed me about an exciting, new position that had just opened up in Belfast. I was a little tentative at first as it wasn’t the job I had originally prepped for.
"However, as soon as they informed me of the job description and of B-Secur as a company, I knew it was the perfect fit for me. The agency itself were aware of how rare opportunities with such an innovative company like B-Secur were. It didn’t take me long to share their excitement and I was thrilled to be considered."
